1. Cash purchase
The simplest and lowest-cost option. Pay 25% on order, 25% on delivery and the balance on completion. Many of our customers use savings or ISAs – solar typically delivers 7-12% effective annual return.
Solar pays you back – but only if you can finance the install. Welsh Solar offers multiple payment options so you can choose what suits your budget.
From cash purchase to 0% interest, long-term loans and commercial leasing – we will find a plan that works.

The simplest and lowest-cost option. Pay 25% on order, 25% on delivery and the balance on completion. Many of our customers use savings or ISAs – solar typically delivers 7-12% effective annual return.
Available on most installations between £3,000 and £15,000, subject to status. Equal monthly payments, no deposit required, no fees, no interest. Provided by Novuna Personal Finance.
FCA-regulated personal loans through Kandoo or Novuna with typical APR of 9.9% representative. Spread the cost over up to 120 months. Subject to credit approval.
0% finance is the most popular option among our domestic customers. The mechanics are straightforward: Novuna pays Welsh Solar in full on completion, you repay Novuna in equal monthly instalments over 24 months, and you pay nothing in interest or fees.
Here is a typical example. Imagine a £7,500 system with 0% finance over 24 months. Your monthly payment would be £312.50. Your first-year electricity bill saving is typically £900-£1,200 – meaning the system effectively pays back most of its first-year cost while you are still paying for it. After month 24 your monthly outgoings drop to zero and the savings continue for the next 23 years.
0% finance is subject to a soft credit check and approval. There is no fee to apply and you are under no obligation to proceed. The decision is usually instant.
If you would prefer not to use finance, that is absolutely fine. Most of our customers pay by bank transfer in two or three stages – on order, on delivery and on completion. We never ask for the full balance up front and we never request payment in cash.
Business customers have additional choices beyond traditional purchase or loan finance. Welsh Solar's commercial team will help you choose between four common models depending on your cashflow, accounting treatment and risk appetite.
Pay cash, own the asset, claim 100% capital allowances (full expensing or AIA) and 100% of the savings/SEG income. Best for cash-rich businesses with appetite to invest.
The lender owns the asset; you pay a monthly rental that is fully tax-deductible. Off-balance-sheet treatment available. Typical terms 3-7 years.
A third-party investor pays for and owns the system. You buy the electricity it generates at a discount to grid (typically 30-50% saving). No upfront cost. Term usually 20-25 years.
Welsh Solar can introduce you to leasing providers offering 5-10 year operating leases on solar PV. Suits businesses that prefer opex over capex.
Whichever model suits you, we will produce a fully-costed proposal showing pre- and post-tax cashflows, payback, IRR and 25-year NPV. Our finance partners include Aldermore, Funding Circle, NorthEdge, Lombard and several specialist renewable lenders.
Until 31 March 2027, HMRC applies a 0% VAT rate to domestic solar PV, battery storage and certain heat-related installations. This represents a 20% saving compared to the standard rate and is reflected automatically on our domestic quotes.
To qualify, the installation must be on a residential property used by the customer. Mixed-use properties (e.g. shop-with-flat) may qualify on a proportional basis. Commercial-only properties attract standard VAT but can usually recover it in full through their VAT return.
Welsh Solar handles all VAT paperwork as part of your install. We will explain the position clearly in your quote so there are no surprises later.
